Volunteering

The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins’ front office staff embodies the team’s commitment to community through dedicated volunteerism. Staff members actively participate in impactful initiatives such as United Way’s Day of Caring, lending a helping hand to local cleanups that beautify our region’s neglected areas. Members’ involvement in programs like iCanBike showcases their commitment to inclusivity, as they empower individuals with disabilities to conquer new challenges. Through these actions, the front office staff echoes the Penguins’ values of making a lasting impact beyond the game.

If you have a service project that you’d like our staff to assist with (preferably in the summer), please reach out to Amanda Cromer at acromer@wbspenguins.com

Stuff The Bus

The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins partnered with the United Way for a “Stuff the Bus” event. Fans loaded their donations of new schools supplies and hygiene products onto the Martz team bus. Donors received a voucher for the Penguins’ home opener and had fun with the Fanboni. The community’s generosity filled the bus with essential supplies, creating a positive impact for local in-need schools.

TUX Appearances

Meet Tux, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, beloved mascot who’s won the hearts of fans young and old. Tux’s antics, from showering fans with popcorn to striking poses, bring laughter to Penguins home games since 1999.

Tux presence at community events, hospitals, schools, and fundraisers over the past 25+ years has spread joy across NEPA. From birthdays to corporate gatherings and even weddings, Tux’s humor makes him the life of the party.

If you want to have the big penguin at your upcoming event, please fill out the request from below.

@wbspenguins Our Stuff the Bus drive was a massive success! Thank you so much to everyone who came out on Friday to help us collect supplies for the 27 schools that participate in United Way’s Nurse’s Pantry program. #wbspenguins #ahl #hockey #fyp #hockeyboys #backtoschool #school ♬ School - Killer Bee

Player Engagement

At the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, our players are more than just athletes – they are true community champions. We take immense pride in our players’ active involvement beyond the rink, as they enthusiastically engage with the community that supports them. From local schools to hospitals and animal shelters, our players consistently extend their hands to make a positive impact.

Hospital Visits

Smiles, laughter, and a reminder that hockey is bigger than the game. Players traveled to Danville, Pennsylvania to visit the Geisinger Janet Weis Children’s Hospital, where they spent time with incredible young patients and delivered donations generously provided by Penguins fans from across Northeastern Pennsylvania. From meeting new friends to sharing unforgettable moments, the day showcased how the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins continue to give back to the NEPA community beyond the ice.

Community Volunteering

Throughout the season, our players dedicate time away from the rink to support the community that supports them. By volunteering with local organizations making a meaningful impact—such as Valley Santa and CEO Weinberg Food Bank—players are actively involved across Northeast Pennsylvania. Whether lending a hand at community events, supporting families in need, or helping local nonprofits amplify their mission, our team is proud to give back and strengthen the community we call home.
